Same day service, 7 days $0 callout fee when the job goes ahead Fixed price upfront Licence No. 232989C

The bill arrives hundreds more than last quarter. Nothing is dripping, the toilet is not running, nobody has filled a pool. That combination almost always means water is escaping where you cannot see it, and has been for a while.

We prove it before we assume it. A meter test with the house shut off says within the hour whether there is a leak and how fast it runs. Same day, seven days, from 1.7 kilometres away.

    What happens when you call

    1. Mustafa asks what the bill did and what has changed. Recent renovation work is a common start.
    2. He isolates at the meter and tests, separating a real leak from a billing error.
    3. Any leak is located with equipment, not intuition: acoustic, thermal, pressure testing.
    4. You approve a fixed price before anything is opened.

    About North Parramatta

What is under your floor depends on when the house went up. Pre-1960s homes can still carry galvanised steel, rusting from the inside and failing at a threaded joint. From the 1960s to the 2000s it is copper, developing pinholes as it ages. Renovated kitchens and bathrooms will be PEX.

Floor construction matters as much. Post-war cottages sit on suspended timber, so a leak runs into the subfloor for months without showing inside. Later brick veneer and the townhouses are slab on ground, where water stays trapped under concrete. Under all of it is Wianamatta shale clay, which moves with the seasons and works on rigid pipe until an old joint lets go.

Leak detection work we do in North Parramatta

Supply side leaks are the classic high bill job: a service line under a driveway or path, losing water into the clay without surfacing. Pressure testing and acoustic listening find those.

Slab leaks in the brick veneer stock show differently: a warm patch on the floor when it is the hot line, or a damp edge along a wall. Thermal imaging does the work there.

Under-floor leaks in the older cottages are their own thing. There is usually room to get in and look, the fastest detection there is, and it often turns up rotted bearers too.

Sometimes it is not a water leak at all. If the damp comes from waste, we run a camera down the drain instead, and a weeping relief valve sends us back to hot water systems in North Parramatta.

    About Mustafa

Mustafa owns Original Plumbing and works under Plumbers Licence No. 232989C. Sydney born and bred, owner operator, and the one who does the testing, the locating and the repair. Nothing is handed halfway to someone who missed the diagnosis.

Honesty and respect for the people whose houses he is in are how he was raised. In leak work that means not cutting until he is sure, and saying so when the answer is a cistern valve.

Sydney born & bred Honesty first Respect for every customer Your local, for the long run

    Why locals call us back

Nothing is opened on a hunch. Concrete and plasterboard get cut where the evidence points, on a price you approved.

No upselling either. A clean meter test gets reported as one, not turned into a job. Offcuts, dust and packaging leave with us.

    Common questions

How do I do a meter test myself?
Turn off every tap and appliance that uses water, including the washing machine, dishwasher and any irrigation. Go out to the meter and write down the reading, including the small dials. Leave it an hour without touching any water, then read it again. If the numbers have moved, water is going somewhere it should not be.
Can a leak run for months without anything showing on the surface?
Easily. On the supply side, water under a concrete path, a lawn or a slab soaks away into the clay soils around here and never surfaces. The other common answer is that it is going down the sewer quietly through a toilet or a relief valve, which produces no wet patch at all.
Is there a test I can do myself on the cistern?
Yes, and it takes five minutes. Put a few drops of food colouring in the cistern and do not flush. If colour appears in the bowl, the toilet is passing water. A worn inlet or outlet valve can trickle day and night and cost you a serious amount over a quarter.
Can a water bill be adjusted after a hidden leak is repaired?
Sometimes. Water authorities do run concession schemes for concealed leaks that have been found and repaired by a licensed plumber, and the decision is theirs, not ours. They generally want the repair date, the plumber's licence details and a description of the fault, all of which we provide as a matter of course.
What should I look for before the bill even arrives?
A patch of lawn that stays green through a dry spell. A section of floor that is warm underfoot. Water pressure that has dropped for no reason. A faint hiss in the wall when the house is quiet at night. Skirting boards or floorboards that have started to lift. Any one of those is worth a meter test.
