Is there a minimum charge on a small job?

You get a price for the job in front of you, whatever its size, and you decide before anything happens. Nothing is padded to hit a figure.

Two quotes came back very different. How do I compare them properly?

Check what each one actually includes: parts, labour, callout, rubbish and making good. A low number that leaves three of those out is not really a low number.

Can the price come down if the job turns out simpler than it looked?

It can, and it has. If we allowed for a complication that did not turn up, you should not be paying for it. That only works when the same person quotes and does the job.

Does the price include taking the old parts and rubbish away?
