About the suburb

Common questions

How do I find out whether my apartment is on a central system or its own unit?

Look in the laundry or services cupboard for a cylinder or a wall unit. If there is nothing, the building is feeding you hot water from a central plant and your strata manager holds the answers.

Is there gas at my address, or do I need to check?

We check on site rather than assume. Some streets here have a gas service and plenty of the newer buildings were designed all electric, so the only reliable answer comes from looking at your meter position.

Can a heat pump go on an apartment balcony?

Sometimes, and sometimes not. It needs airflow, a condensate drain and permission from the building. Any one of those three can rule it out, so ask before you buy.

If the building is all electric, what are my actual choices?

Electric storage, or a heat pump where there is room and approval for one. We size either to how many people use the hot water, not to the badge on the old unit.
